Lame excuses

Wha! Oh sorry Kell, I dosed off for a month. Sorry again but it has been hot, thirty six today. Your parents have kept me along with my siblings distracted with lost weekends at their farm. I had forgotten my responsibility for the "wrap up" till I received your prompt. I spent a productive weekend on this task during which I myself evolved as the one who should be most lauded for achievement. Unfortunately and perhaps to spite of this outrageous self aggrandisement I accidently deleted the almost ready for publication document. As it is said, 'pride comes before a fall'. Now I shall undertake to overcome my grief and once more blog for you. I do love excuses don't you?
There have been events that deserve recording. There was 'Neemes evening of gambling excellence' a very successful benefit event with the object of purchasing a special requirements laptop for Jacks blind from birth friend Neemes. Generously hosted by Alice and Jack at their Lavender Bay villa this event saw a cross section of glitterati some on line from as far as 'um Dubai?' try their luck at their favourite casino sport from roulette? to two up.
The Goulburn Blues Festival was a grand success that brought welcome rain and humidity to that normally hot dry clime. Lots of public transport options were sampled at varying costs. Many bottles of wine were consumed, the music and camaraderie were excellent and the accommodations at the ranch guest wing superb. Probably the only fault to be found was with the goods train load of stinky Sydney garbage that parked in front of me as I waited at Goulburn station for my trip home.

This weekend we celebrated Alice and Jack's family day with drinks at the villa followed by a tour of Wendy's garden before chow down at the exclusive Kirribilli club in the base of our Nicole and Keith's new penthouse apartment building. With lots of glass we were all guaranteed glamorous, sometimes reflective, views of the bridge, Lunar Park and the iconic harbour. A good roll call of Prestipinos, including Andrea who we are all sponsoring for residency, buoyed our numbers and ensured good takings from the clubs pinball and like machines.

The best was still to come later that evening when Jack and I went underground to the 10th annual Squatfest. Guided by text messages we captured the tail of the procession leaving from the south side of Victoria Park pond which led to the now abandoned University (though I prefer Universe) Motel. Here, on the concrete slab roof the size of a football field, were spread blankets and arm chair cushions from equally abandoned beds and arm chairs. It's hard to describe how pleasurable was the sensation of hard heat through blanket into supplyne back while gazing at stars except to say that it must be similar to that of the Bedouin in his camp. The movies were good too.
